Trees for Better Africa, in partnership with the Kenya Forest Service, celebrated World Forestry Day at Irangi Forest Station in one of the degraded forest lands in the Mount Kenya region. The forest is rich in biodiversity and includes Afro-Alpine forest in the upper zone, Afromontane forests, and riparian forests along river valleys.
World Forestry Day serves as a platform to highlight the critical role of forests in providing clean air, fresh water, and a stable climate. It also reminds communities of the importance of protecting forests, which support diverse ecosystems and sustain local livelihoods.
Through this celebration, Trees for Better Africa and its partners raised awareness on the need to conserve and restore degraded forests for the benefit of present and future generations. Such efforts encourage community participation in forest conservation and promote long-term environmental sustainability.
